This Lhasa spiritual tour is a special trip to show you all holy places in the city and beyond. Within a short 6 days travel, you can cover, Potala palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkor Street, Norbulingka summer palace, Sera, Drepung and Ganden monasteries. This tour is also favoured by pilgrims all over the world to see Tibetan culture which is pervaded widely from Tibetan Buddhism.
Itinerary – Lhasa Spiritual Tour
Day 1: Arrive at Lhasa
Upon arrival you will be met by our staff and will be transferred to hotel at center of the Lhasa city. You can walk around Barkhor circuit in the evening time, venture through the holiest circumambulating Barkhor Street with local pilgrims. Overnight: Gangjian Hotel
Day 2: Lhasa Tour: Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
Today is your first day of sightseeing on the high plateau, so we have purposely arranged only to visit Jokhang temple and Potala Palace. Jokhang temple is the most scared shrine in Tibet which was built in 7th century and located at the heart of old town in Lhasa, the circuit around it called Barkhor street, which is a good place to purchase souvenirs. Potala Palace is the worldwide known cardinal landmark of Tibet. The massive structure itself contains a small world within it. Mostly it is renowned as residence of the Dalai Lama lineages (Avalokiteshvara). Both of them are the focal points of pilgrims from entire Tibetan world, multitudinous pilgrims are circumambulating and prostrating in their strong faith. Overnight: Gangjian Hotel
Day 3: Lhasa Tour: Visit Drepung and Sera Monasteries
Today you will be arranged to visit Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Both Drepung and Sera monasteries are Gelugpa (yellow hat) sect monastic colleges. Drepung monastery was the seat of the Government prior to Potala, it was once the world’s largest monastery in the history with 10,000 monks hailed from different monasteries all over Tibet. Sera monastery is famous for its Buddhism philosophical debate practice. Overnight: Gangjian Hotel
Day 4: Lhasa Tour: Visit Ganden Monastery and Norbulingka
Drive out for Ganden Monastery on this day, which is the first-ranked among the six Gelug sect monasteries. Ganden Monastery is founded by Tsongkhapa in 1409 and famous for its abbot throne holder who was traditionally recruited based on knowledge Buddhism. After visiting Ganden we will drive into Lhasa and visit Norbulingka – the summer palace of successive Dalai Lamas. Overnight: Gangjian Hotel
Day 5: Free day in Lhasa
Enjoy this day at your own to prepare leaving for home the next day. You can buy gifts for your fiends and family. Overniht: Gangjian Hotel
Day 6: Transfer to Airport or Train Station
